Current state of the game

It is only night 2. So much has happened >.>

I am continuing to work with Black Kitty. Work is perhaps the wrong word. We have a cautious truce. She wants to remain neutral. She suspects I want to kill her, I think. The truth is I want to keep her alive because she is good conversation and a lot of fun.

I am glad for this decision because the recent turn in events with the Prince's death has put a time limit on the game. There are not enough lynch phases left for a Montague family win, I think. I am going to need Black Kitty to cooperate and give me the clues. At the moment she won't do it because she is afraid that I will use her then kill her, or, if she is seen to assist me Capulet or Mafia will kill her.

This is fine. I am hoping that the orders from the Crown tomorrow morning will give me additional reasons for BK to ally with Montague. I am now working for the Crown, if she doesn't ally with me it's bad news, especially since I spoke so highly of her in the letter @_@;;

I expect BK to maintain her neutrality for as long as it is necessary for her to survive. I would have preferred her to share information with me but I will not pressure her to do it. She already has done Montague a tremendous favor.

Here's how it went down.

Day 1 - Zaxser commit suicide by announcing his role and proving it. Suike had already infiltrated the Capulet leadership group before the game began. That's like a ninja that controls TIME. So to help prove her loyalty, she voted for Zax.

It became increasingly apparent that Kanako was working with TAP. TAP is dangerous and annoying. I was also personally annoyed because he had upset the vote for the Count/Prince. I would have preferred Black Kitty as Prince and Link as Count, than Kanako as Prince and Black Kitty as Count. That said, I trusted Black Kitty to be an honorable and fair person - and I believe she has been that person, even though it means she can't tell me things I want to know.

Anyway - Kanako would kill me if she had the auto-lynch so I am glad she didn't have it. I know Kanako would be forced to react if I attacked TAP, so I left it until near the end of voting and attacked him. This rattled her cage a bit, and I gave her the ultimatum that if she couldn't vote for TAP that meant she was working with him. Instead she voted for me, up until the last minute, when she ninja voted for BoD, who survived.

I knew Zaxser was dead and there was no point shifting votes to TAP, I just wanted to rattle her up. Kanako was dangerous but ineffective. In TAP's hands, or BoD's or any enemy who had intellect and contact, she was a lethal weapon. I had to keep her out of control of everyone else who wasn't me.

I also wanted to keep her alive, not because I thought I could control her, but BECAUSE she was dangerous and reckless it meant idiots who thought they could control her would undoubtedly get betrayed and destroyed.

I also have a small soft spot for her and didn't want her to die. I promised Black Kitty that I had no reason to kill unaffiliated players and I wanted to share the victory with them all.

I couldn't save Kanako but by the Gods I did try. I publically denounced her decision making ability and tried to make her seem less of a threat, tried to make it seem like she was acting the loose cannon. I risked myself and contacted various players and begged them to shift their vote.

The secondary reason for all of this is because we had learned that TheThirdRider was a Montague bodyguard. Ironically it was because the Capulet bodyguard was an idiot. He lied to Black Kitty about his house. So Black Kitty immediately thought, "WTF, one of the houses is trying to kill me." I had already said to her I was the Montague lord. She explained to me the situation. So here we had our second bridge of trust.
The first was, I told her I was the Mont lord on day 2.
The second was, I said that if she gave me the name of the bodyguard she trusted, I would use my family check on them. If I said he was Capulet, BK would give me the name of the other bodyguard and just pray we wouldn't kill the Capulet player.

She gave me TheThirdRider. He checked out as the Montague bodyguard. This meant that the Capulet bodyguard was lying - the player INSISTED that he was a Montague bodyguard. BK even checked with Aarin to make sure. Nope - he was continuing to lie. Crazy.

I almost forgot. On Day 1 when Link was trying to get everybody to vote for Zaxser, he accidentally gave away or sent me a mistell that revealed him to be the Capulet Lord. At first I thought it was a joke or a trick. Had he discovered me already? I left replying to it for so long and he just continued on the conversation like nothing had ever happened. I totally forgot about it until Suike later mentioned that Link was telling his private channel, capuletinnercircle password PENGUINS (Great job Suike). In fact it's so awesome I'm gonna cp it here.

So, did Link tell you any of the other Capulets?

I am so glad she is on our side. Suike also corretly picked out that Romeo and Juliet (Tracerbullet and Umino) nailed TAP because TAP was threatening BoD and Link, and Umino was working with BoD and Link.

As it happens, TAP was actually 100% correct. But he was uncustomarily stupid about it and instead of trying to network, he tried to rally up support like in previous games. But this game has three factions, not two, and the number of players is much greater.

At the moment Capulet knows both town criers, we only know Dukat. I am highly suspicious that Black Kitty shared some of the clues with Umino. I know she is with-holding information that I desperately need (see the preceeding post) to help the King find his sons killers. If we can kill off Link, it won't necessarily mean that Montague will get the clues. But it might help.

I wrote this and showed it to Black Kitty:

- Benvolio is the montague detective, checked Lisa early day 1
***The crimson Lord was in his study until almost dawn. The name 'Lisa' was heard whispered through locked doors.

What do all these clues have in common? They only point to Montague or Black Kitty.

The remaining clues are hidden by Umino and Black Kitty.

All of the clues refer to night actions. The only night action not accounted for is TAP's death.
Romeo and Juliet are not referred to at all in any of these clues, yet, there was a mention of them in the main thread summary.
In other words, the clues that are being withheld refer to Capulet actions, and Romeo and Juliet.

The only actions Romeo and Juliet can take are to kill. A Romeo and Juliet action means that they made a kill - that kill was TAP. They would only kill TAP if TAP was significant threat to them - or their block. What was TAP saying? Umino, Link, and BoD were working together. TAP was threatening BoD and Link, but Umino is the one that took the action. The action was a Romeo and Juliet kill.

Umino is publically withholding Capulet information. Black Kitty is publically withholding Capulet information. Black Kitty does not seem as neutral as she claims to be. What do Capulet and night actions have in common? A Romeo and Juliet kill, or more specifically, Juliet.

Umino is Juliet Capulet. BoD or Link or both are working with them. Black Kitty is protecting them.

This is the closest I ever came to risking Black Kitty. I did mislead her in to thinking that I had recieved it from somebody else. I didn't straight out say "Somebody/player xyz mailed it" but I heavily implied that it was not my work. I didn't want to scare her, I just wanted to let her know that if one person was capable of putting that information together, so were others.

I was annoyed at her because I believed she was sharing the clues with Umino and not myself. That put her much valued neutrality into question. However, giving me the Montague bodyguard more than made up for it. Up until this point I had been 100% honest with Black Kitty. This is the only time I have lied to her and I feel terrible about it. However if I do nothing somebody else really might post it. I think withholding the clues is strategically a very dangerous move, Montague suspects her of treachery and wild Capulets too. AND the Mafia. So the reasons for me writing it were good, just the way I presented it to her was deceitful. I can't really justify it but after writing and rewriting, I couldn't find a way to make it non-threatening if it was from me. The only way I could make it neutral (ie without accusing her) was to pretend it was from somebody else.

I have had votes against me in previous games. It is not a lot of fun. Link fell apart today after he narrowly escaped the lynch vote. I don't envy him.
